Greetings to all of you! We have another exciting discovery to share with you today. In this feature, we will take a closer look at the charming “Cascade Log Cabin”, a rustic haven that is simply enchanting. The cabin, situated on an idyllic slope, boasts a straightforward design that perfectly complements its surroundings. The external decks of the house are aptly named “cascading” as they fan outwards and downwards along the hill.
What I personally love about this dwelling are the wraparound porches that envelop almost the entire perimeter of the building. Accessible via the driveway, the front door opens up to the main porch, while shaded nooks and crannies are present on the sides and rear of the property, providing perfect spots for quiet relaxation.
The current proprietors of this log cabin have transformed the surrounding landscape into a stunning display of stonework, gravel, mulch, and strategically placed flora. This cozy dwelling is ideally suited for a family, featuring tasteful decor, ample space for guests, and all the modern amenities.
Two sides of the building boast covered porches, while the third side showcases an open deck complete with protective railings on all sides. This outdoor space makes the perfect spot to host summertime gatherings with loved ones and cook up some BBQ or smoked delicacies.

Adjacent to the main residence is a separate building designed in the A-frame style, which not only adds aesthetic appeal but also serves a practical purpose. Whether utilized as a storage space or converted into a garage, this structure would make a fantastic addition to the cottage’s side. The sunroom is strategically located on the deck’s side, providing a charming second entrance to the yard. The deck’s position at the back of the house is appealing, and from the loft’s elevated viewpoint, the trapezoidal windows on the exterior wall can be admired. A stunning stone fireplace with a chimney is situated on the interior back wall.
Cabins typically boast lovely shaded porches that are commonly furnished with traditional outdoor seating such as rocking chairs, porch swings and picnic tables. These amenities can be found here, along with an added convenience of a wire rack for storing firewood in close proximity to the cabin.
As soon as you step inside the log cabin, the striking log walls, wooden ceilings, accent beams, and floors catch your eye. The main level comprises a bedroom, a sunroom that stretches out to one side of the house, a dining area, a kitchen, and an open floor design that facilitates easy movement. To top off the lodge-like ambiance, the taxidermy animals and antler and log accents provide excellent finishing touches.
The inclusion of a fireplace in a room is not only aesthetically pleasing but it also provides warmth during the chilly season. To create a warm and inviting atmosphere, consider arranging some comfortable seating options around the fireplace. This space can serve as a cozy family room, even without a television. Depending on your home’s layout, a living room, family room, or den would all work well.
Towards the back of the primary room, you’ll find a cozy dining area that seamlessly transitions into a solarium through an elegant arched doorway. This area is perfect for unwinding and enjoying the warmth of the sun while taking in the beautiful backyard view from the deck off the back of the house. The rustic decor and comfortable seating create the ideal environment for relaxation after a tiring day.
One aspect of the cabin that I particularly enjoy is the archway constructed from rustic timber walls. Its stunning appearance creates a spacious and open feel within the sunroom. The copious windows and doors surrounding the space allow for ample natural light to flood in. If desired, this area could easily be transformed into a cozy reading nook or home office with comfortable seating.
At the heart of the log cabin lies its kitchen, designed in the classic U-shaped layout. Adorned with stunning hardwood cupboards, the opposite end boasts an eating area for family and guests. Adding to the rustic appeal is the stone veneer that accents the kitchen’s edge bar. However, what caught my eye was the light-colored countertops that perfectly complement the stone while blending seamlessly with the cabinets.
In this kitchen, you will only find the essentials – a regular refrigerator, stove, sink, and dishwasher. Although there are many cupboards that provide plenty of storage, this kitchen is quite modest in its design.
As soon as you enter through the front door, you’ll come across a set of stairs that lead to both the basement and upper floors. I’ve included some pictures of the loft area for you to take a look at. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photographs of the basement to share at the moment.
Head up the staircase and discover a generous loft area with a cozy corner perfect for a television, couch, and perhaps even a workspace. The entire space boasts unique trapezoidal windows that offer a view from the backyard.
Although it may be a bit cramped, it is possible to arrange a seating area and an entertainment system against the wall prior to accessing the bedroom through the door.
One thing that really stands out to me and that I absolutely love about this loft is how open it is. You can easily see into the living area downstairs from up here.
The upstairs bedroom is quite capacious with high ceilings and a ceiling fan, making it an ideal choice for either the master suite or a guest room.
The Washroom
Despite its simplicity, the washroom is quite charming. The clawfoot tub and wall-mounted sink on opposite sides of the room create a serene ambiance that’s reminiscent of an oasis in the desert. Its rustic charm is coupled with an understated elegance that’s bound to leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
