A concerned woman contacted the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter in New Jersey to report that she had discovered five puppies on the side of a busy road. She expressed urgency in their need for immediate attention as the puppies appeared to be in very poor health. A rescue team member quickly responded to the call and took the hairless puppies to the vet, taking into consideration their delicate health conditions. The puppies were found to be suffering from severe scabies, resulting in sores all over their bodies, infections in their eyes, and swollen legs, among other conditions.
According to Kathleen Leary, the director of the shelter, the animals were very affectionate. They wagged their tails and licked our faces as a clear sign of love and maybe even gratitude.
Even though there has been gradual improvement, their health condition remains fragile and they will require several more weeks of treatment.
Leary elaborated that the puppies are being administered antibiotics, eye medications, and special baths, besides being examined by our veterinarian every week. To ensure their emotional and social growth, the puppies have been placed in foster homes, where they can experience a sense of belonging and familial love while their individual personalities continue to develop.
Leary mentioned that the personalities of these adorable creatures are gradually revealing themselves and they all seem to be friendly towards other dogs and have a great affection for humans.
The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter is happy to announce that the puppies who were rescued from a traumatic experience will soon be recovered and ready for adoption by loving families. It’s important to allow them time to heal properly before rushing the recovery process. Despite their past trauma, these puppies are now surrounded by humans who love them and will never have to endure mistreatment from those with ill intentions again. Let’s share this heartwarming story and condemn animal abuse. These innocent and vulnerable beings only want the chance to give their hearts and be happy.
