Hastening to Provide Assistance
When the rescue contacted Sarah to prevent a cat from being put down, she readily agreed even though she had scant information about the feline. With a firm “yes,” Sarah became responsible for the cat, now called Chester, who arrived at her doorstep the following day. As soon as she saw Chester up close, she was taken aback by his appalling state. Due to the graphic nature of the images, some have been altered to conceal his ghastly injuries.
Uncovering the Reality
Sarah shared that Chester had experienced an eye injury resulting in a rupture. Despite his pain, Chester found comfort in Sarah’s lap and rested his head in her embrace. A Purr-fectly Optimistic Feline
Sarah was well aware that the operation was crucial for her furry companion’s survival. If Chester didn’t undergo surgery, he would have had to be put down. It was a make or break situation for him and his life was hanging on the edge.

He still had to learn how to adjust to living with just one eye.
According to Sarah, taking out an eye causes a state of bewilderment and a sense of losing one’s bearings. It’s akin to being a novice all over again. Chester was in a state of bewilderment, having to relearn everything he once knew. However, Sarah’s unwavering belief in him has always been present since the beginning of their journey. After a few weeks of getting better and embracing the process, Chester’s exceptional character began to show itself.
Sarah described Chester as the ultimate snuggler. He wasn’t interested in playing with toys or engaging in activities, preferring instead to relax and unwind. Throughout his recovery, he would sleep right beside Sarah and her husband, craving constant attention and affection. His love and gratitude for them was evident in his desire to be close and cuddle.
Chester may have a chill personality, but he knows how to ask for what he wants. Sarah shared that if she doesn’t give him attention, he’ll nudge his paw on her face or wake her up in the middle of the night just to say hi. It’s like he’s reminding her to show him some love!
