“Tragic Loss: Sheltered Mama Dog’s Labor Woes Leaves Her Without Puppies, Sheds Light on Struggles of Animals in Need”

As per the ilovemydogsomuch source, a mother dog who was expecting was left stranded at the Boone Area Humane Society after having a lengthy 24-hour labor.

After going through an unplanned C-section, the patient experienced two episodes of cardiac arrest. However, with proper medical attention, she was able to stabilize. She was given a blood transfusion and closely monitored in the ICU of Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The Boone Area Humane Society shared on Facebook that the medical professionals at ISU informed them about a female dog who is already in her senior years and has given birth multiple times in the past. The poor canine should have been living a comfortable life during her golden years, but instead, she was forced to breed and was left neglected when she had difficulty giving birth.

A mother dog recently gave birth to 21 adorable puppies, but unfortunately, they did not survive despite the efforts of skilled veterinarians. It was discovered that the puppies were underdeveloped and could not have received sufficient nourishment while in the womb alongside their 20 siblings.

Ruthie, the mama dog, is making progress every day! She’s eating by herself and moving around to go outside. Her personality is lovely, and she’s been released from the hospital to live with her foster family. There, she’ll continue to recover.
On another note, the Humane Society is working hard to hold accountable the person who abandoned Ruthie to endure this pain. Sadly, it’s challenging to prosecute them in Iowa because the state doesn’t have strict animal protection laws.
