Wade Shapp and his lady were on their way back home from church one Sunday when they saw something that caused him to veer off the road and crash into the bushes.
As we were driving down a country road on our way back home, I noticed something strange while riding my bike. Suddenly, a dog’s head popped up, and upon closer inspection, I realized that it was stuck in a feed sack and tied up with a rope. My partner Mandi and I are both avid dog lovers, so we immediately got out of the car to help. It was obvious that the dog had been intentionally tied up, as the rope around the bottom prevented any movement. We were shocked and saddened by this cruel act.
Upon discovering a dog in a sack, the couple’s first priority was to free him from his confined space. As they lacked proper tools to cut the sack open, they resorted to using their car key. Once freed, they wrapped the dog in a fleece and brought him into their vehicle. Despite being grateful for his rescue, the dog, now named Bubba, appeared frightened and distressed for the initial hours after his rescue, shaking and fidgeting nervously.
According to Shapp, it is unclear how long Bubba was trapped in the feed sack, but he believes it was around 24 hours. When they found him, Bubba was covered in urine and other unpleasant things. The Shapps took him home, gave him food, a warm bed, and a bath, which helped him calm down. They took him to the vet the next day and found out that he had a projectile wound on his upper leg. Despite this, Bubba is generally healthy and is getting along well with the Shapps’ other pets. The Dallas DogRRR team is helping Bubba find a permanent home, but the Shapps are fostering him until he feels better. Shapp is amazed at Bubba’s resilience and ability to trust humans despite what he went through. He believes that Bubba will have no trouble finding a loving home when the time comes.
The kind and selfless actions of the two individuals serve as an inspiration for others to take a stand against animal cruelty and provide support and protection to vulnerable animals. The dog, which was once in such a dire state, finally finds a permanent home with a loving family, much to the delight of those who originally rescued it.
